BAT Zevenaar – warehousing managed by DHL
Energy monitoring and employee engagement
Provision of on-site electricity and gas consumption data with recording and analysis of temperature and humidity data in site warehousing led to a better strategy for controlling and operating site heating. This was implemented along with an employee engagement programme to manage energy usage better after new warehouse operations during a cold spell increased gas consumption hugely.
Direct Benefits:-
Reduction on gas alone from one month overspend of €16K (prior to project implementation) to a lower spend by €4K over the next 4 months.
Indirect Benefits:-
- Site better able to manage the temperature and humidity requirements of stored product.
- BAT Zevenaar is an old cigarette manufacturing site which now provides over 50,000 m2 of warehousing between 14 buildings
