Postal Delivery in Germany

Understanding the Underlying Factors

Average fuel economy of identical postal vans was distinctly different between depots across Southern Germany. TNG analysed driver and trip data, over several months, and identified that the driving and delivery behaviours accounted for 7% of the difference between the depots.

Direct Benefits:-

Changed behaviours and reduced overall fuel consumption by 8% across the region.

Indirect Benefits:-

Although not measured Road Traffic Accidents were reduced over the period of the trial.
