Carbon Action Plan
As part of the McDonald’s Asia Pacific Middle East and Africa sustainability strategy work, The Neutral Group designed a Carbon Action Plan (CAP) for HAVI Logistics’ distribution centre in Guangzhou, PRC. The TNG team carried out a detailed engineering site visit to install remote electricity monitoring for the site and to assess its carbon footprint, energy consumption and operational practises. The CAP then set out a number of equipment retrofit measures and business cases.
Direct Benefits:-
- Predicted savings of $85k a year on the site electricity bill
- New lighting scheme will dramatically improve light levels and reduce accident risk in working areas
- Voltage optimisation system and Improved refrigeration plant control will reduce maintenance costs
The DC is a 6,000 m2 facility, including over 2,000 m2 of frozen and chilled storage
Indirect Benefits:-
- Better lighting will improve working environment
- Air quality in chilled areas will be improved by eradicating bacterial growth in fan coil units
- Employee engagement programme will encourage and reward worker participation in achieving sustainability targets
